Still alive in Chattanooga
Yes, your favorite blonde(ish) blogger is still kicking - and even posting once in awhile. There's been a lot going on the last few weeks, including my running battle with the fence company that took my deposit on June 4th and has called ONCE to put in my fence - when I was at work. Grrrr.
Then there was the great termite debacle - yippee - my lovely old house was being eaten from the ground up. *sigh* I wanted to puke I was so upset when I found out. Fortunately, there appears to be no major structural damage, but repair work will need to be done.
I'm in the midst of refinancing the house - hopefully that will be wrapped up by the end of the week.
My birthday and my high school reunion are both in the next two weeks. I get to A)Be older and B) See all my old classmates from TWENTY freaking years ago - I am SO not ready for this whole 20 year concept. Matter of fact, I'm not ready for another birthday just yet either, so I've decided, in the spirit of conservation, to recycle my last three birthdays instead. 35, 36, and 37 were pretty decent years and I don't mind repeating them at all - and that will allow some OTHER person to turn 38 instead. Isn't that a grand idea???
So, one year ago today I was laughing my butt off watching my niece Erin enjoy "her" party, which was, in truth, her parents wedding reception. Or, now that I see the clock, I was attempting to sooth her back to sleep after she woke up crying - again. Poor kid was so overstimulated and exhausted she couldn't get a good night's sleep - so neither did Aunt Carole. lol Though Aunt Carole wasn't feeling TOO badly about it - after splitting a bottle of champagne with Teresa. Erin and I ended up finishing the night on the sofa with her stretched out on my chest - dead asleep, finally. Poor Dane. Stuck in the house with two semi-exhaused women and a confused 2 year old.
Memories I have of the wedding include trying not to laugh during the ceremony when Noel and Cindy were dodging a bug (if I remember right), little Erin plunking her butt down right on her mama's train during the photos (and looking adorable while she did it!), the bride eating a corndog as her prewedding meal, how happy the bride and groom looked together, and how amazingly well Leonard and his new bride danced! Don't know where he got the dance gene from but it obviously skipped the rest of us - except for Aunt Libby and Pat, who gave Leonard and Tammy good competition.
I also remember trying to feed Erin her breakfast the next morning. She made it quite clear that she thought Aunt Carole was a dunce. She told me specifically everything she wanted to eat - and then looked at me like an idiot when I provided it. After a few moments - she decided to take pity on my questions of "what else do you want, honey?" and pointed at her bib. DUH. Aunt Carole was WAY out of practice with two year old's - but thanks to Erin's patience and a few helpful hints from big brother Dane - we all survived.
The great job search continues - I don't want to think about it right now, so I'll say no more.
Oh yes, one more thing. The new Harry Potter book 'The Half Blood Prince' is MAG. Absolutely wonderful. On one hand I can hardly wait for the series finale - but on the other - it will be the FINALE. :-( No more adventures.
It's way past my bedtime so I'll close this out now. Hope everyone is having a great day/week.
