Good news comes in Three, too

I noticed a trend a few years back - whenever a friend announced she was pregnant, within a few months two more would follow.

My cousin/friend Fran Meier is due in November, and on Sunday I got an email from Carla announcing a second pregnancy for her and Scott. I sat at my computer last night wondering who number three was --- today my email announced lucky mama-to-be number three would be my friend Sherry, in Michigan.

Life finally seems to be on an upswing for her, and I'm so happy - she had a hell of a year last year.

My life seems to be on a plateau right now. Not as great as I'd like, but a whole lot better than I've had before. Too bad I want it all! NOW! ROFL Despite what people think, I'm really NOT a very patient person.

Craft project in progress. This will be a throw sized 'quilt' made of old vests and backed with denim. There will be buttons in the neck openings and ties on the plain panels.  Posted by Hello

Update

Hey everyone,

Life got a little out of control here the last few weeks. I got majorly behind on my housekeeping duties and then work got crazy. Story of my life (or lack of).

So what's new? Well, my youngest niece, Erin is now TWO! Hooray! I can't believe it's been two years - she sure has changed! She was a scrawny handful when I first held her - unbelievably tiny with sticks that masqueraded as arms and legs, incredibly long, pretty fingers, and enormous blue eyes. She still has the blue eyes, and the long pretty fingers, but boy has she grown! She's walking and talking, and flirts like a pro. LOL God save us from those blue eyes in about 14 more years -

Also Leonard and Tammy have moved into their new house. I can't wait to see it...

I have gotten the laundry caught up - it was a battle, but I finally got it done. I have spent most of my free time this weekend working on my craft project for the craft fair in October. I sure hope someone buys it, after all the work I'm putting into it. Actually I've been working on the most detailed part of it, which worked out well, because it gave me time to think about what to do on the rest of it. It also is giving me a chance to more accurately know how long this thing is going to take me! I'm hoping to have it finished by this weekend. All I have left to buy for it is one more tie. I got lucky and found three child size clip-on ties at the thrift store, so now I just need one more to complete it.

Well it's 10:15 and past my bedtime - sigh. This getting old stuff is for the birds! LOL

Nighters -

Swapping TV and bedroom.

Well folks, here's the nearly completed TV room. I need to paint one wall and take the curtains to the dry cleaners - seems there's an ink stain on one of the panels that they neglected to mention at the yard sale. Grrrr. The reading corner is cluttered and I'm still deciding what to do about it - couple of options, just not sure which one I'll go with.

Suggestions gratefully accepted! LOL

I've finally done it! I've been talking about swapping my TV room and my bedroom - and I've made the first step - the bed is the ONLY thing that got totally moved yesterday! LOL Posted by Hello

Ignore the clutter - I will be relocating things between the two rooms for several more days, I'm sure. Posted by Hello

Today in my history - Dawn and Jay

August 6th, 1993 - 11 years ago. I woke up very early, after spending the night with my dear friend Dawn, at her apartment in Carondolet Court. It was an exciting day for us - she was driving me to the airport, so that I could fly to Pennsylvania to meet my internet beau. As she helped me 'do' my hair, we talked of both my excitement to finally be meeting Rob, and hers at having a first date scheduled that evening with a guy she'd been seeing around the medical school she attended. His name was Jay and everyone she knew that knew him vouched that he was a really nice guy. She had talked to him a few times and really liked him, and, in addition, she thought he was REALLY cute. :-)

August 6th, 1994 - 10 yrs ago. I stood with Dawn and Jay as they made their wedding vows - and felt totally confident in their ability to make their marriage a success. It was the final event in 3 weeks of events for me (Leonard's marriage, my birthday, final exams, nursing school graduation, pinning, and then her rehearsal dinner) and I was exhausted, but it was a wonderful way to end the summer. One of my favorite memories from that day was watching Dawn, fully 'made-up', with her headpiece already on, in shorts and a t-shirt scarfing down a Big Mac, with her beautiful gown hanging nearby.

Since then, I've been privileged to see their marriage mature with the juggling of their careers/goals, home purchase, and the birth of first one, then another beloved daughter. Our lives are very different these days, but I still enjoy seeing Dawn and Jay, and watching their daughters grow.

Happy Tenth Anniversary Dawn and Jay! I've been thinking of you, and remembering you all day - I hope it was a fantastic day...

Weekend anyone?

Hmm, what have I done lately? Saturday I cleaned the kitchen, ran 3 or 4 loads of laundry, updated the blog photo page, and did some housecleaning -though I'm hard pressed to say what I cleaned! Sure doesn't look like I cleaned anything.

Today I got up with every intention of 'knuckling down' and getting the housework DONE. By two o'clock I blew the whole thing off, and went for a drive to Fall Creek Falls State Park. WOW! It was really impressive. Sure wish I'd brought a change of clothes and my swim suit - there were tons of places to swim and I was in jeans and 1.5 hr from home. I seriously considered it - but that's a long drive in wet jeans.

I did get to see several waterfalls - including the highest one east of the Rocky Mountains, and they were gorgeous. I also went across two suspension bridges - though I had to work up my nerve for the first one. The kids running around the park kept bouncing the dern thing - yikes!

It's a bit of a drive - but the park is truly awesome - as well as free. There are a lot of trails to wander and a bike path too. Someday maybe I'll try to camp there overnight - but it won't be soon as I have no tent or anything else necessary for camping.

I'm shopping for a card reader now, so that I can download and look at all the pictures I took today. I know that at least a few of them are worth looking at twice - at least I hope so!

I am meeting Carla and Rebekkah at Coolidge park tomorrow morning, so I'll get to play in the water then. I'm looking forward to it. :-) This hot weather is for the birds.

Hope everyone had a great weekend...
